Colby High School FACE Room Remodel

2019

Service: Commercial Casework

In 2019 we were given the opportunity to give new life the existing FACE (formerly known as Home Economics class) room at the Colby High School.  The existing space had the original cabinets from the 1970's with miscellaneous additions and thrown-together modifications to allow the classroom to keep up with the growth of the school district.

The first step in this process is to create a concept that fits within both the existing space and more importantly, the budget.  We created and presented 2 differently styled renderings and let the representatives at Colby decide which they liked best.  From there we fine tuned all of the details from appliance locations to cabinet layouts to cabinet and counter top colors.  Once all of those details were hammered out, we refreshed the rendering to give one last visual representation.

The next step is to develop production shop drawings that our wonderful production team uses to build and produce the cabinets and countertops.  During that process, we and our customer is given the opportunity to evaluate every dimension to make sure that all appliances, dishes, utensils, etc. will indeed fit in the intended space.  Once the shop drawings are approved and signed off by our customer, the project is moved into production.

Often times we are also tasked with installing our casework to complete the project.  This was one of those projects and the casework was installed without a hiccup.

Now, this once very old classroom, has been given new life and will better serve the students at Colby High School for many many years to come!
